May 2008, Glasgow, Scotland The ICM Council Meeting was attended by 138 delegates from 75 midwifery professional associations from 65 countries worldwide. Key Issues: Consideration of new ICM vision and mission statements, governance structure including voting for board members, strategic planning and prioritization of goals for the next triennium, selection of the host association for 2014, and consideration of over 25 new or revised position statements. The ICM Triennial Congress was attended by more than 3,400 midwives from over 90 countries. There were over 80 exhibitors, including ACNM, and 140 educational sessions with presenters from just about every continent. Guest speakers included Princess Anne, patron of the Royal College of Midwives; Princess Muni of Jordan; and Sarah Brown, wife of the Prime Minister of the UK.
