Captain Jarold "Tom" Johnston

Jarold "Tom" Johnston

Military Branch, Rank, and Unit:
Captain AN, US Army

Duty Station:
Fort Bragg, North Carolina

Hometown:
Torrance, California

Personal Profile:
I am a military midwife on active duty with the Army, stationed in Fort Bragg, NC.  While I've served nearly 18 years in uniform, I am new to midwifery, having graduated with the class of 2005.  My wife of 13 years (Elizabeth) is a Neonatal ICU nurse, and together we have six children, ages 1 - 11 years old.

In my opinion, the best part about being a midwife is watching young couples turn into families as they grow during their pregnancies.  I truly love serving as a midwife in the Army and look forward to every new day serving my country and the families entrusted to my care.  When asked when I will retire, I usually say that I will stay until Uncle Sam forces me to leave. (Mandatory retirement is only 20 years away!)
