Military Branch, Rank, and Unit:
Captain, USAF, NC Duty Station: Langley Air Force Base Hometown: Sturgis, South Dakota Personal Profile: Every morning at 0545 I slip into my BDU - battle dress uniform - blouse my pants and lace my combat boots, all to catch babies. Each day I'm proud to wear the same uniform as the men and women I consider heroes fighting for this country I serve. Each woman unique, each family defined by her. Some praying he'll come home in time, some praying he'll come home alive. My dream: to experience life fully. The USAF offered a role as an officer and a midwife. Everyday I'm thankful for the families I serve and proudly plan to give birth in our own military setting here at Langley AFB in April 2007. My role in deployments has included functioning as a nurse or officer in charge, in Egypt (Cairo West Air Base, 1999) and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (Prince Sultan Air Base, 2003). What a blessing to touch lives and families! back to Midwives in Uniform page |
